Fernando Diaz de Leon Rendon – Metal Embossing
Originally from Chihuahua, Mexico, Fernando had an interest in art from a very early age. Having grown up in an artistic family, he cultivated his interest with a variety of art mediums from painting and drawing to sculpture and installations. Further on, he developed and refined his natural talents by earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the Ontario College of Art and Design University (2017). Currently, Fernando is expanding his career in Kinmount, Ontario where he is an active member in several art galleries and studio tours in Haliburton and the Kawarthas.
Incorporating his cultural identity with his new home in Canada, Fernando creates a unique technique of metal embossing called Repujado. Many natural forms of landscapes, wildlife, and symbolic structures have inspired Fernando to create pieces on aluminum, brass, stainless steel, copper, and pewter. His remarkable ability to capture natural detail with a hint of expressionism is a hallmark of his work.
