I’ve been enjoying acrylic paintings with a group of ladies at Fenelon Seniors’ hall.
We meet monthly and do floral and landscape paintings with some instructions and advice, but mostly just to have fun with brush strokes on canvas.
It is never too late to take up a new “hobby”… all supplies are provided.
Registrations are through Joanne Young or Rose Marie McColeman at the seniors’ office for future classes.
Maud will be at the gallery next on June 15th, 2019.
Maud Skoog, Janet Tysiak and Morris Young attended fundraiser for the Coboconk Chamber of Commerce and New Horizons Seniors group last night. It was a Paint Party & Pinot event in which 65 would-be painters were lead by local artist Adrienne Chalaturnyk.
The Fenelon Station Gallery was there in support of the arts.
All of the artists in the gallery are getting ready to greet our visitors this coming weekend, May 19th. We are excited to be opening for another season. We have a few new faces this year with new artwork. Here you can see the work that goes into setting up the gallery each year. We come in and dust, sweep and clean windows and then the artwork arrives and a few of our members do all the work turning the empty space into a lovely gallery.

Our annual draw took place on Labour Day weekend: Mary Schroder from Milton, Ontario pulled the winning ballot.
The 2013 winner of our $100.00 gift certificate was Lorraine Smith of Fenelon Falls. She picked out a beautiful platter made by potter, Janet McDougall.

On September 1st, we had this year’s draw. Each year we ask visitors to fill out a ballot and near the end of the season, we draw a name to receive a prize of art in the gallery.
Sandi Smith of Stouffville, was a visitor on the day and she pulled the winning ticket from this year’s draw.

Congratulations to the winner of the Station’s $100 Gift Certificate…Carole Wetheral of Cannington.
Carole came with her husband Bill and chose a few pieces of art to take home. She spent about an hour in the gallery, trying to narrow down the art she wanted to buy. In the end, she chose two of Peter Martin’s sculptures and a necklace and earring set made by Janet Tysiak. She was very happy to have won the prize and we are very pleased for her as well.
The City of Kawartha Lakes has participated in Doors Open Ontario for nine years and we are happy once again to be part of the event this year. Morris Young (Fudgee) will be demonstrating his wood turning during the day and will be in the gallery with Maud Skoog, who is a painter.
You’ll want to take advantage of the fun things that are going on now, as you know how you feel when it is cold outside again! You won’t want to leave your cozy house. We look forward to seeing you soon.
The annual Kawartha Arts Festival is coming up this weekend (September 1st and 2nd). You can visit the festival and all the talented artists and then come and see more art in our lovely Historic Train Station Gallery.
